Mark Kowlzan

Mark A Kowlzan

Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
Packaging Corporation of America

 

Mark W. Kowlzan has served as PCA’s Chairman since January 2016 and as Chief Executive Officer and director since July 2010.  From 1998 through June 2010, Mr. Kowlzan led the company’s containerboard mill system, first as Vice President and General Manager, and then as Senior Vice President – Containerboard.  From 1996 through 1998, Mr. Kowlzan served in various senior mill-related operating positions with PCA and Tenneco Packaging, including as manager of the Counce linerboard mill.  Prior to joining Tenneco Packaging, Mr. Kowlzan spent 15 years at International Paper Company where he held a series of operational and managerial positions within its mill organization.  

Mr. Kowlzan received an undergraduate degree in Natural Science from Assumption College, an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and Pulp and Paper Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, a graduate degree in Pulp and Paper Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and an MBA from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.


 

Tony Mollica

Executive VP – Consumer Mills

Tony Mollica is a senior executive with more than 30 years of broad international paper and packaging business experience. He has extensive exposure in multicultural environments, including Asia, Europe and Latin America.  Mr. Mollica is currently the Executive VP-Consumer Mills at WestRock.  He also has been president of WestRock Brasil since 2014, leading the company's corrugated packaging business based in Brazil which includes forestry operations, container board paper mill, and corrugated box manufacturing.  Prior to his current position, Mr. Mollica was the Vice President & Managing Director, Asia Pacific at MeadWestvaco in China from 2008 to 2013 and was Vice President, Americas & Africa at MeadWestvaco from 2003 to 2008.  Prior to that he was Vice President, Worldwide Sales Manager from 1999 to 2003 and Manager, Technical Sales Service & Product Development from 1993-1999 at MeadWestvaco.

Mr. Mollica received a MBA in Aviation/Airway Management and Operations from the Daniel Webster College in 2010 and an undergraduate degree in paper science and engineering from the State University of New York College of Environmental Sciences and Forestry in 1982.


 

Tony Lyons

Dr. Lyons has over 33 years of experience in the areas of fluid mechanics, paper coating, paper finishing, and mineral pigments for paper coating, paper filling and other specialty applications. He received his Doctorate degree in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University.  Tony also holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University at Buffalo.

His work experience includes 5 years with Westvaco and 5 years with Repap Technologies, Inc. He has been employed by IMERYS since 1994. His responsibilities at IMERYS have included: research, innovation, new product development, customer technical support management as well as being a member of business unit management and merger teams. His current title is Global R&D Director for the Imerys Kaolin Division. He became a TAPPI Board of Directors member in March of 2016 and will serve a 3 year term. He has been a very active member of TAPPI since 1985 and has held the Chair for the Finishing and Converting Division, the Coating and Graphic Arts Division, the Calendering Committee, the Coating Fundamentals Committee and the Futurists Committee. He chaired the 2003 TAPPI Advanced Coating Fundamentals Symposium held in Chicago. He was the Technical Program Chair for the Coating and Graphics Arts program for the 2011 TAPPI Papercon held in N. Kentucky and was the Chair of the 2012 Papercon Conference held in New Orleans.

Tony has regularly published and presented at TAPPI and Pira conferences and in trade journals.  He holds patents in coating pigments, coating applications, coated inkjet papers, agricultural applications and vapor barrier coating. Tony holds appointments as an Adjunct Professor at Western Michigan University and University of Maine at Orono. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, (ACS), the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME), and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). Tony is the father of four and a grandfather. He and his wife Debra, a Senior Director for ACT, reside in Macon, GA. 


 

Beth Cormier

VP - Research & Development
Sappi Fine Paper

 

Beth Cormier has been the Vice President- Research & Development at Sappi Fine Paper since 2007.  Prior to this position she was the Director - Marketing Strategy at Sappi from 2002 to 2007.

Ms. Cormier received an EMBA from the Boston University Questrom School of Business in 2011 and Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Maine in 1986.
